pump up the volume is one of my all-time favorites... i have the poster on my wall and no one has ever heard of it and this really upsets me... i really wish more people would go out and see it!
also... y dont you think samantha mathis never really made it?

Regarding the Samantha Mathis question, I don't think she really made it because although she is good in this movie, she isn't all that convincing in other movies (Broken Arrow comes to mind), but that is just my opinion.

She seemed to make it alot better then many of the other actors that were on this film, especally the ones with long talking roles. (I forget the names on the film; the tape copier, rebellious punk student, the rapping varsity jacket kids) Mathis has now a full career in movies and was even in two of my favorites, Broken Arrow (starring again alongside Slater) and American Psycho along with a guilty pleasure of mine, Super Mario Bros (movie). She is even starring in the movie the Punisher when it comes out this year, so I doubt her career is anywhere far from failing.
shareFor the record, Super Mario Bros was one of the very worst movies I've ever seen. I think the blame rests primarily on awful costuming, set design, etc. and most importantly, the story-line that bears only scant similarity to that of the video game series.
I can't fault the talented actors involved. And I actually think the casting choices were above average, but there was little in their performances that suggested they even owned a Nintendo.
You probably know this already but the song is called "Why Can't I Fall in Love?"
It's by Ivan Neville and, like a lot of the music, it's on the Soundtrack album. Which, btw, is well worth it.
Yeah, but it doesn't have the ultra-cool version of 'Everybody Knows' performed by Leonard Cohen.

What proof do you have to say that she never made it???????? Are you expecting for her to be in one great movie after the other????? Are you ecpcting her acting just to on TOP??????

Not every actor is going be an A Lister. Samantha has had some good roles but she never made a huge in impression in films asides from Pump Up The Volume. I loved her in this movie and was excited to see she was in Broken Arrow but she was ordinary in that film.
