Missing scenes?

I finally saw Pump Up the Volume and found it surprisingly good. So much so that I bought the DVD. Put upon reviewing the film again, I couldn't help but feel that this isn't the complete version of it.

For starters, the credits say that child actress Virginia Keehne is in the movie somewhere. But I've looked and looked and cannot find her anywhere. Same goes for the character of "Harry Video" that's in the same spot in the movie, but likewise I haven't figured out who or where he is. According to the 'order of appearance' cast list, they're both supposed to be introduced shortly before the PTA meeting. So where are they? Can anyone help with this?

And I also tend to think that we see a watered-down version of the 'sex' scene between Slater and Mathis. As another user pointed out, their meeting the next day was a little too awkward to follow two teenagers just seeing each other's bodies for the first time.

Is there a more complete version of this movie out there? Or at least in the works for another DVD release? Unless this is the complete version, and I just can't find these two people that actually are in it.

I saw it when it was in the theater, and it was exactly the same. A director's cut might help, it was probably chopped up by the studio. They screwed up the soundtrack too, no Leonard Cohen or Ice T or Descendants or Beastie Boys or Richard Hell & the Voidoids.

I still can't figure out why Hubert H Humphrey HS is in Arizona...

I hate it when dvd releases f uck up with the soundtrack - especially since this movie is about the music!

Well, apparently Seth Green is also in it but I have watched it over and over again but still can't see him.

He's pretty easy to find - the redhead with the long mullet. He's mostly in the alcove scenes where they dance and play music at lunchtime.

Personally I have jerked my nerves looking for Juliet(Drusilla from Buffy). I look background and everything, no dice.......

Harry Video isnt an actual character. "He" is the fake voice Christian slater uses in the film when he talks on the air. The actor credited as "harry video" is never seen in the film...only heard.

seth green is one of the kids who plays the tape of harry's show on the school p.a. system. he has maybe 2 lines, so it's easy to miss i guess.

Seth green is the rebel lookin guys friend and when the two kids tap into the schools overcom speaker things he helps and is giving each other the really funny looking high fives watch again and youll see. :)

I have seen a 'shot' that wasn't in the film: I think it was Mark (Sans HHH persona) in a convertable, overlooking something. (The school maybe...) He's stood up with his arms outspread. I saw it on the back of the rental cover a few years ago; it's not on the retail cover of the video or the DVD & I don't think I have the case any more so I can't check for certainty...

I'm the 'Eat me, beat me' Lady. - Nora

That happens at the end of the movie. He's in his mom's jeep with the top off, and looks out over the school's athletic field. Then, the helicopter comes and chases them.

To the OP: I think you're wrong about the "awkwardness" following the sex scene. First off, they don't have sex, they just see each other naked. The point of the scene is to show that by being naked, they exposed their true selves: Mark is no longer 'Harry', and Nora is no longer the shy girl she appears to be at school. Furthermore, the next day, there is a brief moment of awkwardness, until they both burst out laughing, proving that they have real trust in each other.

Naah, it's not from the end scenes; the shot's in daylight; that much I remember.

To clear all this up it's about time they come out with a proper DVD release. The currently released DVD is the same thing as the VHS tape I bought of this movie back in 90.

I want to see a DVD of this movie with extended/deleted scenes, director & cast commentary, and maybe a few interviews. Is that too much to ask?

I watched this movie last night and was surprised that I found it as powerful and inspiring as I did when I was a teen. I just wonder if today's teens see it that way. Teens now-a-days seem way more submissive.
