Over the Edge V Pump Up the Volume
Anyone ever see the mid 70's "Teen Angst" film "Over The Edge" with Matt Dillon? This movie IMO seems to be an updated version.

shareThey're both movies about teenagers, but that's where the similarities end. I guess the whole parents not understanding the kids scenario is a little bit similar. I love both these movies though.
shareThis one.

OTE, definitely. Although PUTV is more "my generation" and features some good songs. But "Surrender" alone is easily one of the 5 best songs ever made. The Cars, Cheap Trick, Ramones...love all these bands. Also the closing "Ooh Child" is absolutely wonderful. Plus I instantly associate most of the songs from OTE with the respective scenes, which is not really the case with PUTV.
shareYeah over the edge rules! I love the music in the movie too. Except the Oh child song. I really hated that in the movie and it felt completely out of place for the ending
shareOTE is one of my favorite movies. I also noticed some similarities, like the riot scenes by the school buidling. However, as much as I like Slater (including his performance in PUTV), to me this movie and the kids' behavior are never believable. It's not total sh!t, but it's a pretty mediocre, cliché-laden teen flick.
shareBoth fantastic movies. I love them both but I prefer Pump Up the Volume

Samantha Mathis' boobies put Pump Up the Volume over the top.... both good flicks though. ...and yes, I am in fact a pig :)
sharePump Up the Volume is much better but both have pretty good soundtracks and great acting but Pump Up The Volume is more special to me...
All right ramblers..let's get ramblin'

No comparison, OTE is one of the all time greats, PUTV is just a good movie.

over the edge is better. PUTV goes a little bit deeper than OTE but on a whole OTE is much better. PUTV was obviously inspired by OTE anyway. The dad from OTE is in PUTV so what does that tell you.
sharePump is great, and a favorite of mine, but Over the Edge is better (including the soundtrack). You can see how it influenced Pump, the teen rebellion storyline in particular.
