Hey, "Pump Up the Volume" was filmed at my alma mater, Saugus High School in Saugus, CA. Even though I'm OLD now...(I graduated in '85!) I still love to see the school in the movie, and remember when I was running around that campus. When the school was built in the late '70's, each of the buildings was painted a different color, and the locals called it "Fruit Loop High." After a few years they painted all of the buildings in neutral colors. The school was also built on land that previously was a large dairy farm, and for a time, it was also known as "Cow Pie High!" There's a funny continuity goof in "Pump Up the Volume"; Near the middle of the movie Samantha Mathis is walking across the high school campus. The name of the high school in the movie was "Hubert Humphrey High School" But behind her, clear as day above the library door, it says "Saugus High School Library." OOPS!!! But I love to see that, as I spent a good deal of time in that library! Anyway, just thought I'd share my school spirit with all you Christian Slater fans... GO CENTURIONS!

Hey, I graduated in '87...my sister graduated in '90 and was still there when they filmed this movie. They used some real students as extras...I can pick out a few kids that I knew back in the day whenever I watch it.

hey, i go to SHS also (but not for long, im a senior 2005). you wouldnt believe what they're doing now. the whole school is getting remodeled. its a mess and is really goin to change a lot! i saw this movie on tv and trust me, in about 5 years it will look nothing like the movie!

I'm from Saugus High too! I live right next to it actually. HAHA! I went their from 98-2000. Did anybody ever have Mr Pope? HAHAHAHA! That dude is halarious. The school is changing a lot now cause their currenly remodeling it. They have this huge green fence thing surrounding like half the school. Hope it'll turn out nice.

I'm a Saugus 04 Grad myself, and I own a copy of the movie. Anytime I get homesick (As I've moved to Chicago) I just pop in the dvd and watch Christian Slater galavant around my alma mater.

So what was that huge pipe in the background for? you only see it a couple times, but I thought it looked a little out of place...

Ah yes, the big 'ol pipe on the hill... It is a water pipe that runs for days and just happens to snake past the campus. In my days nothing good really happened up there but sometimes those are the best things!

I graduated in '88 from Sawdust High and we were around when they shot the scenes on the upper field with the trucks and it's funny because many of the extras out there were people who went to Saugus but had graduated already.

From what I see now Saugus HS will be totally unrecognizable from the film soon with only the most expert eye able to notice anything.

I just visited there in October. It's still quite recognizable to me.

haha yess im in saugus rite now actually.. it was OLD backk thenn lol 1990 it looked so old skool buh now it got modernized
