Pacific Heights OR Unlawful Entry

Both very similar films just wondering who prefered what outta interest?

reply

I like both films, equally.

The only person to ever celebrate Valentines Day correctly was Al Capone!

Unlawful Entry was more enjoyable in my opinion. I liked seeing the way Liotta's character started out as a nice guy before his obsession with the guy's wife revealed him for the disturbed individual he really was. The scene where he beat up the suspect and showed his true colors for the first time was very viscerally effective since it was such a sharp contrast to his likeable behavior. Since Keaton's character in PH came off as a menace from the very beginning, it seemed to flatten the tension when he first shows up at the apartment. Both movies also end with violent showdowns, but Unlawful Entry's was way more exciting.

While I see Keaton and Liotta as equally talented actors, Liotta had the opportunity (due to more screen time) to show more facets to his character, so his pyscho cop ended up being more interesting than Keaton's Carter Hayes. And Kurt Russell is just a far, far better actor than Matthew Modine, so his protagonist was just much easier to root for.

I didn't like Lakeview Terrace at all. It just didn't capture my interest. It could have been a lot better. The couple did not even stand a chance against Jacksons character, they were way too wimpy imo.
But that's just me. I liked Pacific Heights and Unlawful Entry better.

reply

Unlawful Entry by a mile. For several reasons one the couple was more likable. In Pacific Heights I was rooting for Keaton all the way. I wished he turned into Batman and started kicking ass. And my main reason SEX. Pacific Heights started of promising showing Beverly Dangelos beautiful breast in the beginning. Than nothing happened. Come on horror and sex go together like white on rice. If theres no sex in a horror movie then it fails.

Your mistake is in thinking either one is a horror film.

... the hardest thing in this world is to live in it...

Also, I guess I am uneasy with the idea of a cop as a villain (in Unlawful Entry). It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yea because there is no way a cop could be a villain...........

More than half of the pigs in America are the most corrupt scumbags that have ever walked the earth.

Darling, you can't rape a townie......

Those pigs put there lives on the line everyday. So that little chicken *beep* like you get to live safe and comfortable.

Man I do wish someday. You people get to feel what is like to not have cops around. Than all the sickos that cops put in jail. Can rape and kill all of you.

reply

Sorry but just because there's a cop in your family or something doesn't mean that most Cops are *beep* No one ever said anything about not needing them, but that doesn't make them anything but neccessary *beep*

Unlawful Entry...Gotta love Ray Liotta

YOU'RE A *beep* COCK TEASE KAREN, YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A LITTLE *beep* COCK TEASE!!!

Unlawful Entry was more suspenseful but Pacific Heights seemed to be more unpredictable. A lot of Ray Liotta's moves you could coming... SPOILERS the killing of his partner so he doesn't rat him out, the killing of her friend so he could get to Madeline Stowe, the framing of Kurt Russell... you saw them coming the second the scene started. As for Pacific Heights, you knew Michael Keaton was mind ******** with all of them and pulling the strings but you never knew what his next move was going to be and I love the revenge Melanie Griffith got.. that was AWESOME!!!! Madeline Stowe played along with Ray Liotta until she could get his gun.. oh yeah we haven't seen THAT one too many times.

Real love is FOREVER!!!!

they are both good movies but i liked unlawful entry a lot more
