Homage?

Don't you think this is a homage to Hitchcock films? There's the same shower, a bird flying around, Tippi Headren, and an exact copy from Psycho with Keaton falling backwards. Any other shots I've missed?

Schlesinger also makes a cameo ala Hitchcock. It's when Griffith is in the elevator after having passed Keaton in the hallway. Just as the door is closing, a hand thrusts through...Viola...Schlesinger! Loved it!

The cripple Modine crawling around at the end had a hammy touch of "Rear Window" as did other "neighborhood" moments in the movie. I can't remember from where but the ice cube melting/clinking in the Century City hotel lobby did seem like a Hitchcock gimmick. Aside from The Birds there were no labored references to all the Hitchcock scenes set in San Francisco esp. Vertigo, which is a standard boring trick to see in mod action movies and thrillers e.g. Basic Instinct or Planet of the Apes or the Fincher or Michael Bay canons
