19 Years Later, and still very relevant.


I'll be the first to say this film's got limitations, cornball acting (Sheen's perennial high), preposterous displays of bravado (Sheen leaping out of the jeep, climbing on to the tow truck), but honestly, I think the film is a decent action pic, certainly better than any of the Chuck Norris flicks.

What strikes me is how topical the subject matter is, even in 2009: A SpecOps team is sent in on a "snatch a grab" job to extract an informant, and then proceeds into Lebanon to take out stingers that have fallen into Hizbollah's hands.

Substitute Al Qaeda for Hizbollah, and it's not so far-fetched, I think.

Word is Charlie Sheen was high off Coke on set, same goes for The Rookie which he filmed after this. Still it gives him wings in his scenes...

He does seem a bit hyperactive. Especially the scene on the ship where Curran walks in on him pointing the pistol in the mirror.
