Walt Disney trademarks 'SEAL Team Six'... not a joke

Acoording to news reports, Walt Disney Corporation now owns the rights to the name "SEAL Team Six." Hey, it looks like OBL, in dying, is doing even MORE for the American corporate empire he so thoroughly hated!

Did they say they are actually going to make movies about the Seals? I mean they could simply take license money from others who make the movies. There is probably no easier way to make a profit.

I have no idea - ask the guy at the top.

I registered a screenplay called Seal Team Six with the WGA 10 years ago.. I see wealth in my near future!

so much money, so little time

As long as it turns out better than the Godawful Rogue Warrior game-what, worst case, how hard would it have been to ask Mr Marcinko to record his own dialogue instead of Mickey Rourke? Would have made my brief playing of the game a bit less painful.

I could have sworn that the Navy stopped Disney from trademarking SEAL Team Six due to the fact that they already technically have a trademark on it.

Yeah, and if Disney doesn't knock it off real soon, SEAL Team Six's next mission is gonna' be to take out Disney. lol

The fact that they did it really annoyed me. It's kind of disrespectful to the real SEALs as it trivialises the job that they do.

While people may still refer to it as "Seal Team Six", in 1987 the name of the unit was changed to Naval Special Warfare Development Group, with the acronym DEVGRU used. An article published in 2010 says that DEVGRU is no longer in use and that the new official designation is not public knowledge.

Will Disney put out a "Seal Team Six" film? Dunno. Will they market merchandise with some kind of "Seal Team Six" theme? Dunno. But if they do put out a SEAL film I hope it is better than "Navy Seals" with Charlie Sheen as an undisciplined officer who violates procedures without penalty.
