Their HAIR!

OK this movie has lots of technical exaggerations because it is a movie. I can accept most of the inaccuracies in this movie but one that I can't get over is their hair. I mean come on did you see Sheen's hair, nobody in the navy has pretty boy long hair like that. I mean it was hilarious every one having these long flowing lock except Dennis Haysbert. I can see that they are the lead actors so they need to look 'pretty' but even the nobody background extras for the Navy scenes all had longer than believable hair. The naval tech advisor for this movie should have gotten fired for this alone, what an idiot.

Pfafer team in Seal Team Six was called the Rastas and were known for there particularly long hair(much longer then the guys in the movies had).

BS. He didn't make it personal, and you don't have to either.

He gave the facts well and got out. You two who replied however, are a-holes. Save it for myspace

Well put, SuperBMI. Plus, don't Navy SEALs want to sort of blend in with the general public as to NOT cause them to stand out as Navy Seals? You should check out my 1989 style glasses..had to wear them as a background actor in both Pentagon scenes. They tried to find a better pair for me on the set before we shot.

didnt know paxton was in terminator. moron

This Bellini is starting to look like a real Kapuchnik.

reply

You are correct on that because when I went in from 1989 to 1993 your hair as long as it was kept in a certain way you were fine but with SEALS it is totally different because they are to blend in where ever they may go to. They will even fly on a commercial flight to their destination and no one would know about it at all.

Technical advisors are hired to give their opinions. However the directors have the final say. It's called creative licencing.

reply

I have to say that their hair was the LAST thing I noticed in this movie.

I see your point but because they are Seals maybe there are exceptions to the rules. I felt the same way while watching "Coming Home", Bruce Dern's hair is ridiculously long, and in the Army dress uniform looks quite ridiculous.

reply

Pretty common for soldiers needing to operate in enemy territory not to look like soldiers, certainly in the British military.

Not much use having soldiers that look like soldiers even in civilian clothes.

reply

It's not uncommon for special units to have modified grooming standards in the Army as well. Remember the Special Forces soldiers in Black Hawk Down? They were sporting some shaggy hair and the Rangers were high and tight. It makes sense, like how you can usually spot a cop out of uniform...I would think it would be the same with military.

Interestingly, these days Rangers also do the shaggy hair thing. Look it up.

Didn't Sheen have short hair in this stupid movie?

I'm happiest...in the saddle.

reply

I watched the movie purely for action content, everything else came secondary.

Navy Seals are super bad ass, yes of course the movie has its share of flaws and inaccuracies but if you want a history lesson rent a documentary clown.

Special Ops have no grooming requirements.

Spec Ops requires you to operate under the radar of the enemy. You are not meant to look like soldiers but more like longshoremen, civvies, UNICEF workers, journalists etc

A good example of this on film is Black Hawk Down. Look at the Rangers with their buzz cuts and the Delta boys with normal civvy cuts.
