There is a jury higher than ?????

I never read the book, but in the movie why did Buster bother to write down the quote from the book, "there is a justice higher than that of man, I'll be judged by him?" Then we see him with the quote on a piece of paper while going through old newspaper clippings of Annie.

Anne had said that to the jury when she was accused of killing those kids. She got the qoute from one of Paul's Misery novels, and when Buster saw that Anne had said that, he knew she was quoting Paul, so he decided to go to her house, thinking she may have him. Which was obviously a bad idea

reply

No, going there without backup, THAT was obviously a bad idea.

reply

He probably thought that because she was a woman,She wouldn't be a real threat. See what happens when you underestimate women.

reply

There was no point in going in without back up, because he didn't know anything. You can't just call for back up "just in case".

reply

Agreed. He was going out there on a long shot and since it was a small town sheriff's office, I don't think he had a hell of a lot of back up anyway.🐭

reply

He had someone with him in the book. It didn't go well at all.

reply

I think his partner gets ran over with a lawn mower, if I'm not mistaken.

When he reads it in the Misery novel, it rings a bell. But he’s not sure why. When he sees Annie throw her tantrum at the other driver in town, he remembers. She was hauled into court once, too! Could she have been the one who quoted Paul Sheldon?

reply

I figured it was a famous case involving the town weirdo and Buster remembered Wilkes being quoted as saying something like that as she was hauled into court, that’s what made him write it down in the first place - when he read the book he recalled that phrase from somewhere, then he went to the library to confirm it.
