White garbagemen?

The characters played by Sheen and Estevez have got to be the last of a dying breed. I can't believe, based on personal observation having lived in SoCal all of my life, that there are any white garbagemen remaining, even in 1990. If you don't speak Spanish you ain't getting the job. Those of you who live in SoCal, what are your observations?

Well, their old man is half-Spanish and half-Irish (Martin's parents born in Spain and Ireland respectively), but no idea on their mother's heritage. Her bio has no info on that. She was Ohio-born, maiden name Templeton.

None the less, I'd consider them white and not Hispanic. (Much like Obama is generally considered black and he's half caucasian)

Not everyone lives in Mexican hell. Most garbage men I see are white
