Steven Seagal mechanical capabilities?

I'll say right out that I've never particularly rated SS martial arts capabilities. I was never convinced that he could actually use it in a real fight.

However, I've always been incredibly assured of his gun-handling capacities. If you look at any movie he's ever done, you're assured pretty quickly that he's someone who's been around guns and can handle them with skill. Never doubted his (supposed) marksmanship either.

If you watch the "training" montage in Marked For Death, you see him making adjustments to his weapons e.g. coating the bullet tips, aligning his sight(s) and silencers... There's also a pseudo-spirital scene at the beginning when he enters his sister's house and in a solitary room filled with antique guns begins tinkering with the barrel of one of them (IIRC).

Anyway the more I watch of Seagal in movies like Under Siege the more convinced I am that he's learnt some basic mechanics on this sort of thing. He seems to handle DIY toolkits and manipulate mechanical designs/machinery with relative ease.

Does he have any background when it comes to this sort of stuff?
