Blu-ray... MILES better than the DVD!

Just picked up the blu-ray today for $15 at Wal-Mart (the only reason I go to WM: Cheap DVDs and blu-rays), and did a picture comparison with the DVD. SO much better than the DVD, especially since the DVD was a non-anamorphic transfer.

But aside from that, the widescreen framing was FAR superior to the DVD. I never knew this before, but the DVD was cropped on the top, right, and (to a HORRIBLE degree) the left side of the screen! The blu-ray had a great deal more visual information all around. Here's a comparison shot:

As you can see, there's a sliver cut on the right side, even more on the top cut off, and a giant chunk cut out from the left side. Only took 12 years, but we finally have a damn good widescreen transfer! Definitely worth the $15!

Thanks for the comparison. When I first saw this in theatres, I do recall screen aspect proportions betw. 2.40-2.50:1 & thought it was a fluke but your Blu-Ray cap confirms my memories! Happy to dbl dip for this one.
