it was a little off-putting to see his character, a black American war veteran (who probably visited a few countries in his day), so heavily prejudiced against Jamaicans. But I guess they had to have some emotional angle to explore with his character.

The African Americans that I work with tend to look down their noses at Blacks from the Caribbean, and even moreso towards actual Africans. But in the case of his character, it wasn't racial at all. They'd move into a community in Chicago and destroy it with drugs and murder. If they'd been Albanian or Chinese he would have felt the same way.

I believe David was in the movie to make Segal's character look less racist. Notice how both of his side kicks are black. If Segal was just killing all the black characters in the movie, it may have led to controversy.
In fairness, most Jamaicans are scum. They kill white tourists given any chance.
Thanks for that. I felt the same way. It wouldn't be "correct" if Seagal and other white people were slaughtering stinky, barbaric, drug-dealing Jamaicans.

shareKeith David's character, Max, didn't like the Jamaicans because they were selling drugs to his football team and other students. If he wasn't a high school coach, he probably wouldn't care. He'd be out fishing or bird watching.
