Must ask people who read the book about the spider....

Having read the book, I have often wondered over the years if King ever had a sequel in mind.....
The spider was a female...
They had to go around and stomp on all of the eggs....
What if they had missed one??????

Just wondered if anyone besides me had ever thought about that?
I have asked a few friends about it..... the ones who have read the book.
They all liked the idea. We wish that King would get to work on that....
MUCH better sequel than DR. Sleep!
I have never heard an interview with King ever talking about the spider eggs or the possibility of the story going on.
Maybe I'm missing something but the eggs made me assume that there could be another story down the road.

If they missed one or more of the eggs, then someone else would have to figure it out in another 28 years, or whatever the time interval was.

That's how I see it anyway.

The spider was not female-IT could transform in to anything it wanted!

Well, in the book, I recall adult Ben going around and stomping on the eggs. If he had missed any, I would assume that IT wasn't entirely gone. It opens up the possibility of another book. that is all that I am saying.

Yea they put that in there as a type of unknown risk. They didn't know if it had thousands of eggs or not they could only stomp what they could see. If I remember correctly one of the eggs had already hatched and the baby spider was stomped on so I always took that as there was eggs that were already missed as I found it too much of a coincidence that one just happened to hatch right then but rather I'm show many had hatched and scurried off by that scene. The fact that it was female was supposed to be a shocke for back then but anyone who understands the difference between spiders and mammels knows the gender of the spider and its behavior shoulden't have been all that suprising. The books ending sucked by the way.

I don't kow. I always figured it was never killed as most of his existence is still in the macro verse. In the book neither the spider nor the clown were his true form he really didn't have a default form so the whole reproduction laying egg things didn't make sense to me. He felt like the ghost on pacman that can't be killed. He'll just regenerate and come back later. The whole consumption of the universe to me just felt like something he did cause thats what he does rather then out of necessity so I never rally though he could starve. More like he just sufferes when he can't eat.
