Still amazed this was on network TV in 1990

This movie terrified me as a kid watching it in 1990, but even watching it as an adult, I'm amazed with what it got away with: The horror imagery, child murder, blood, violence, suicide, and the use of the "N-word."

Just proves how great TV shows and movies were in the 90's.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't this air at 9 PM? Generally, you can (or could) get away with more after 8.

reply

Yes you are correct, some tv shows are usually uncensored after 9 on certain channels.

Same with me when Salem's Lot(1979)aired on CBS...scared the crap outta me. Salem's Lot was tons better than It also.

reply

Not really. Its really done in cheesy TV toned down crap. Twin Peaks was far more violent & sexual than this rubbish, which aired in the same year.

this ^^

Like nearly ALL of the network adaptations of King works, it sucked.

Really, really bad in fact.

I remember looking forward to it (had read the book a few years earlier) and was completely turned off. They skipped the important parts of the novel... if they didn't have the budget to do a proper stab at it, DON'T DO IT.

I call this a 80's + 90's mini series, As it was filmed in 89 but came out in 90
