'all those friends you on the force, you dont have them anymore'

Is this not the best line in the movie , certainly by amy wallace anyway? and the look on garcia's face after she says it is priceless!

reply

Knew Amy was a smart one...she knows the ropes and tells it like it is, which is why she's the true hero of this film. I laughed at the flabbergasted look on Raymond's face also.

I like this line in the movie, especially since Van Stretch turned out to be a crooked, junkie cop....

"I got bags full of my enemies/ Cut up so they remember me" Pac, F uck Em All

reply

I kind of laugh at the scene where Amy and Raymond are writing up and questioning Van Stretch on his drug use/job problems and Raymond gets all arrogant and lectures Van Stretch while Amy's more patient, gently warns Van Stretch that his job is in jeopardy.

Van Stretch starts to argue back, which Amy kind of expected, so she mainly lets him vent while Raymond rudely interrupts Van Stretch and scolds, Did you hear what I just said? then puts a sharply rigid hand at his face and leans on it and glares icily at Van Stretch like some over-strict parent or teacher berating a misbehaving seven-year-old.

It's kind of funny, yet also telling, esp. telling of Raymond's growing arrogance and superiority complex. I think making detective swelled his head a bit too much.

I like that scene too...especially when Van Stretch mixed up his story, and Wallace quickly writes it down...

and later on when Wallace says that he kept switching up his story--he had an obvious drug problem..then she adds the line, "Plus he was RUDE to me." That line is subtle yet hilarious at the same time! : )

I thought that one was funny also. I kind of laugh because Amy's chewing gum and writing away. Amy's a bright little thing. Sweet too. I say she was the real hero of the film.

amy wallace maybe deserved a romantic interest in this film (ye 2 are clearly obsessed with her!) as shes the only major character in the film without one and ya she is sweet!

reply

Yeah, it would have been nice to see her with a girlfriend. I agree, she is really sweet. I say she was the real hero of the film, much more so than Raymond.

raymond wasnt the "hero" anyway cause his character wasnt sympathetic enough, amy wasnt either but she has a VERY important part in the movie with introducing raymond in the Department and the advice she gives! Best advice us men could ever get!! LOL

Your obsession with Amy Wallace>>> may it continue forever!!!

reply

I still say Amy was the hero of the film; she had the nobility, altruism, and strength of character enough. Raymond was the anti-hero of the film. Agreed, Raymond's NOT a sympathetic character at all.

Yep, I'll love dear Amy forever; she's a sweetheart.

I liked Amy a lot too, but don't knock Raymond...he wasn't perfect, but who is? I like the fact that Raymond has many flaws, it justs makes him fit into the category of "human" more than "cop"...

reply

True, no one's perfect, but I just don't see Raymond as really a good guy. In real life, some of his actions would have gotten him thrown off the force, if not jailed. I still say he's the anti-hero of the film.

thats interesting, so ur saying the movie is really bad cop bad cop as opposed to good cop bad cop which is what it appeared to be in 1990

reply

Actually, it is kind of still good cop and bad cop, but the true good cop turns out to be Amy Wallace instead of Raymond. Kind of an interesting twist there.

reply

amy wallace is a sweetheart actually ur right!

love when she "orders" garcia to get her coffee in a sarcastic manner and he retorts it later on in the ambulance.

but i wonder does she live in the movie?

she was great in Desperate Housewives too btw!!

reply

Amy was just joking at the beginning when she says about getting the coffee; she wasn't really giving Raymond any order there. I think Amy does survive, but is partially paralized and needs several months of therapy.

reply

yeah lets hope she survived

"He's in town with a few days to kill"

reply

it has a price, but not one that he's willing to pay. cue the intense latin theme music for raymond.
