did her ever play the bad guy in other movies , he was great

He was a doting husband who resorted to murder in 'Unfaithful'.

I didn't say he was a villain! Just that he ended up committing murder. I think actors are far more interesting when they play bad guys. I always liked Michael Douglas when he played naughty businessmen, e.g. Perfect Murder, Fatal Attraction.

He's damn good at playing a bad guy.

I don't think I've ever seen Gere play a character as complex, devious, or dangerously charming as he did in Internal Affairs. He's played scoundrels before in movies like An Officer & A Gentleman or Breathless. He's played a sexy jerk in Looking For Mr. Goodbar. But I don't know that I've ever seen him like THIS in a movie before and it was wonderful.

This is the only movie i liked gere in. Its always good when a actor who is known for nice guy roles tries something different. Henry fonda in once upon a time in the west is another example

He deserves praise for trying a villain role. Many leading men wouldn't do that. He did very well with it.
