I did a month after its release and I remember the theater being packed that night, it instantly became one of my all time favorite movies which still is, I remember being totally obsessed with the movie for the next two years.

I went to a small neighborhood theater in Memphis, TN with my mom. I guess I would've been only about 9 at the time, which is weird because it feels like I was older.
I was an infant when it came out, so sadly I never got the chance. I think this would have been a great theater movie.
