What's in the cut footage?
Anyone here seen the uncut version? And can you tell me what was deleted?
Heck, I might as well promote my website - andybob.com

The theatrical version as listed on the BBFC site states the running time at 93 mins 47 secs and the video version at 89 mins 58 secs (due to PAL speed-up). Both these versions were passed at an 18 certification with "no cuts made".
Not certain whether the UK version is the uncut version cf the US version. The video is framed at 1.66:1. Been holding onto the video until a decent DVD release manifests itself.
I have the uncut German version and in it are added scenes of gore; moe cutting his wrists and bugs crawling all over it, somebody getting chopped in half in the door, the Mark13 sticking his fingers in the perverts eyes, and more stuff like that.
Yes, those scenes are also in the 18 certificated video release in the UK, so I presume it must also be the uncut version. There isn't a UK DVD version as yet.
shareDifferences in running times between cinema film and vhs, as explained in the FAQ on the bbfc website, are due to the difference in frame rates between film projectors and PAL videos. Projectors run at 25 frames a second, videos at 24. This is indistinguishable to the eye, but over the length of a feature film it amounts to about four or five minutes shorter on video for exactly the same material.
shareDon't want to stir up any controversy, but I understood the Chinese VCD version is 96 minutes long... no details about particular scenes/images
shareI remember the drill going into flesh on screen on a dutch VHS, never saw it on the DVD release.
maybe it's my memory that isn't good :D
The USA/Canadian version (Canada here) is a "toned down" version with several scenes of graphic violence elimated. The european version is the full uncut version. I'd hazard a guess that there's only a few extra minutes of footage at best.
I've got the Mark 13 "Red Edition" from Europe (Region 2, PAL format... thank goodness for multi-region, NTSC/PAL DVD players!) and it definately has more gore than the US/Canadian release.
Great flick, and it holds up well but a remastered version is badly needed for this overlooked classic! Anchor Bay... Tartan... Blue Underground... are you listening? :)
agreed!
I'm glad this lost gem is still being discussed.
