Mark 13

Has anyone else noticed that at the end of the flick, Mo is speaking to Jill through the Mark13, even telling her how to defeat it? Does this make sense to anyone? The only thing I can think of is that, since they mentioned that the Mark13 can "draw energy from almost any source," that it's somehow absorbed his soul or "lifeforce," and hence, his being.
Any thoughts on this? Did I miss some other explanation?

That's pretty much it. I think that's what's implied throughout the film.

(Note - there's also a pentagram symbol mixed into the Mark 13's schematics.)

I just watched the film for the first time in a while (after having read most of the posts on here... I check in every now and then to see if there's any news of a decent DVD release!) and I got the impression that it was some sort of radio link (because Mo has lots of artificial parts... probably some in his head) and there's still some electrical activity in his brain. When the Mark13 starts up its chainsaw to chop up Vernon, Mo's artificial hand starts twitching because of interference like you get on the radio when an old car goes by.

That and the old 'Love conquers all' bunkum!

Does anybody know where I can get a "safe" copy of this film on DVD? Ya know, Region code 1 and not from a negative feedbacker on EBAY? Thanks...

I think the Mark 13 recorded Mo talking about the defect as he was dying and when she interfaced with the unit she somehow activated that recording, and knew what to do from there.

The machine was it's own worst enemy.

reply

Yeah, I thought that the machine was repeating recordings. If that's true, it makes me think of the machine itself, and how it can only repeat what is around it. It is obviously only repeating the violence which was programmed into it and which is around it.
