R16 or R18

I think HARDWARE should be rated R18 for graphic violence, offensive lananuge and sex scenes, when the HARDWARE dvd is released in New Zealand.

Hardware is one of the most violent movies i have seen. I think it should be rated R18. There were a lot of violent scenes in the film, i thought Lincoln's death was quite nasty. What do you think Hardware should be rated?

meh, I watched this several times when I was 16 and it didn't disturb me at all. By modern ratings standards (which are less strict since 1993), R16 is sufficient.

By modern standards this film is quite tame, it doesn't compare to the gore on offer from films like Res Dogs, Natural Born Killers, Hostal etc.

The LOTR much more violence than Hardware so I say rate it to 11 years, so the kids can enjoy it to!!!

No! Do not accept the need for someone to preview and probably edit a piece of art as if they know better than you! Stanley made this film the way he wanted it to be seen and no other way. Reject censorship, I would rather get a bootleg than support the nazi ratings boards. *beep* that *beep* bull *beep*

The original rating (when the film was classified under the film. videos and publications act 1987) was R18 and was the complete uncut version the so-called "Red Edition" and was released on 20th Century Fox home video.

I doubt (should Hardware ever be relaesed on DVD in New Zealand) that, should it be the same version the rating would change.

I am only speculating but perhaps the MGM version shown on Sky Television was the American R rated edition which is missing about 30 seconds of graphic violence and sex.

It was released on DVD in New Zealand in 2011 and was given the R16 rating.
