Why weren’t Henry Hill and Jimmy Burke also killed for the murder of Billy Bats?

Jimmy deliberately stomped on Jimmy’s face, although Henry didn’t kill him, he helped find the body.

They knew Tommy did it. nobody else was there and could rat on Henry and Jimmy.

Its a plot hole

reply

How can it be a plot hole if it really happened?!
Or are there actually plot holes in real life?

reply

In real life, the mob should have went after Henry and Jimmy. So not only was there this plot hole in real life, but also in the film as well

reply

Plot holes in real life are a bitch, i hate them, make everything so confuse for everybody

Also, Jimmy and Henry were earners and lower-key than Tommy. Why would you hand over people that were making you money to a rival family?

reply

This. Jimmy and Henry were kicking far more money up to Paulie than Tommy. Tommy for the most part was brute muscle and not much else.

"It was revenge for Billy Batts.... and a lot of other stuff."

Most likely while Henry and Jimmy were in prison Tommy was running around pretty much unchecked and got into even more schinanagans that rubbed the wrong people the wrong way. And finally even Paulie had enough and gave the go ahead to kill him. Perhaps Paulie was kind of hoping that Jimmy would do it as a means of disconnecting himself from Lufthansa. When it became clear Jimmy wasn't going to do it, Paulie gave the ok to the other family.

While it probably wouldn't require great detective work to figure out that Henry and Jimmy were involved, ultimately no one could ever without a doubt say they did anything. Tommy was the only one known to have beefed with Billy that night. Jimmy and Henry mostly acted as peace keepers, and pulled Tommy away from Billy and out of the place. Henry was even apologizing for Tommy after he left. As far as anyone could tell, Tommy waited in the parking lot for Billy, or even followed him away from the place and ambushed him down the road.

The Gambino's knew the score as Paulie said that the higher ups in that family continually questioned him about it. Killing Tommy but letting Henry and Jimmy off was a compromise and one the Gambino's could live with as Jimmy with the help of Henry brought in a lot of money for everybody. Batts had been in prison and was starting over in the rackets. Check out Michael Franzese's online material as it seemed Henry was portrayed with more flare and ability than what the real Henry had. Even with the outcome with Batts in the movie and real life being the same.

Jimmy was an earner and was cut a lot of slack for that reason. Henry as shown in the movie had a lot more favor of guys such as Paulie and Jimmy so he was also cut a lot of slack. Batts' men were at Henry's club the last night Batts was alive so it was not hard to finger suspects. Tommy was the odd man out as his rackets did not bring in much money and he was a loose cannon aching for a permanent end with bosses such as Paulie.
