What was that?

During Sam's death scene, there is another one where he wakes up as if from a bad dream and he's in his PJ's, he sees that angel statue beside him and then Molly gets up and doesn't even see him. And then it goes back to him lying dead in her arms as the light calls to him.

What was the point of that part? I didn't understand what the movie was telling me with that scene. It just came out of nowhere and it's never spoken of again, I might consider it a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment. I watched the commentary last night and the director and screenwriter didn't talk about this part as it was playing.

I don't recall that scene, but I haven't seen this movie in years. Can you link to a snip of it? You know, like you did for your advertisement links.

I'm having trouble finding it on YouTube, otherwise I would post it here. If I do find it, I will.

he was in shock about what was happening and was hoping it was a dream, so this scene shows the transition of his consciousness into the spiritual mode and for that short time it actually was like a dream state

i think it makes sense, he wasnt in awake alive aware brain mode anymore so who knows what tricks his mind plays on him
