Hi I didn't understand something at all. In the exorcist III movie not book, when Father Morning steps out of the door heading to gemini/demons cell the demon says you again you've interrupted me. Why does he mean you AGAIN? This saying has never stood up with me. Since father Morning hadent done anything before much less even knew who patient X in cell was? except for having promonations and all. Kinda weird! Any thoughts or good theories?
Morning's back story is that he had done an exorcism in the Philippenes (sp?) that had turned his hair white overnight, similar to the African exorcism that "damn near killed" Merrin before him.
We might think that, in the world of demons, news and information is supernaturally gathered, and what one demon knows, probably a lot of other demons also know, so maybe Ex III's demon knows about Morning's Philippene exorcism and considers that Morning had "interrupted" the demonic mission generically. The demon could be taking the Philippene exorcism personally just on general principles.
Thus the demon that Merrin fought in Africa and again in Georgetown plausibly knows about Morning's Philippene exorcism. More interesting: perhaps in both cases it's the same demon under differing cultural-religious guises. The demon in Iraq is the same demon from Africa - demons don't have nationalities or loyalties to geography or topography. The demon tells Kinderman, "I'm a traveling man...one who moves" - leaving open the possibility that it's the same demon in all the exorcisms: Africa, Georgetown, and the Philippenes. Interesting to consider.
Thanks... we know it's the same demon from lines like that, plus the Gemini's own testimony that his "Master", being the demon from the first story, devised this new "scandal" of taking revenge on Karras and friends by sending the Gemini out on a killing spree...
bastasch8647 thanks so so much for answering my questions!! you are truly an expert on these exorcist films!! thanks so much again! hgohari73 aka pazrags
I don't even see why this thread required any other answer than, "This was covered in the film when Father Morning was first referenced by the priest in the late-night church scene with Kinderman."
He shares with us the backstory on Father Morning then, and obviously the demon knew him from the incident mentioned by the priest in that late-night church scene. I suppose expertise entails actually paying attention to a film. Good to know the criteria for "expert" is so obtainable.
