im renting it from google olay, and around 53, the dr tells the detective that the patient in isolation says hes the Gemini killer, next frame cuts to detective backing up to the door way in shock of the isolation cell. i feel like it cut around him going in and recognizing damien. is this original? was that scene cut out if theatrical release? dod Google pkay *beep* something up? anyone else have this issue?
shareNo, nothing was cut as that's the way the scene always played out in the Theatrical Version. Blatty created tension by playing off Scott's reaction to seeing Patient X/Damien Karras in the cell, making us wonder what had Scott so visibly shaken (some of his best acting in the movie I think, he literally looks like he has seen a ghost). I would say that Blatty considered cutting it the more predictable way of Scott walking into cell, seeing Karras then we get his reaction shot etc., but I like the way it was finally done.
