You know I just came up with an idea since the original end scene on the special edition blu ray was a little dull. What they could have done is have the scene play out with Brad Darouf in the original shoot, and right at the end have his face turn to Jason miller's from the theatrical version showing karras has finally surfaced a little just enough to say Bill now kill me now! What do you all think? They would of course need to do a little remixing from the original shoot and theatrical shoot. But no exorcism demon possession from the original theatrical cut is needed! what do you all think about this?

I haven't yet seen the new cut, and I don't know how your idea would have worked dramatically... but if anyone had been having difficulty in "swallowing" Dourif-as-Karras, perhaps the final reveal/shock of Miller actually appearing would have removed any doubt that Patient X was really Damien Karras' reanimated body, and finally hearing Karras'/Miller's desperate plea in Miller's own voice might actually put a very convincing and touching element in front of the viewers' eyes...
