The Face Morphing

I saw this clip on the trailer and I can understand why Blatty felt that the scene didn't quite work. I paused it and examined it closely. I wonder, though, what was the old whitish shriveled man that he turns into momentarily supposed to be or represent? At times, his face also looked like Pazuzu.

If memory serves, I think I remember Blatty thinking that the morphing was not smooth enough and he didn't have time to fix it - again, this is only memory speaking. Don't know who the old man is supposed to be...

Yes, that is what I heard, and I do agree. It's too quick and odd looking. Seeing that the big effects scene was so rushed with little prep time (according to the documentaries), I guess there just wasn't ample time to get it right.

I saw the very brief clip of that scene in one of the trailers, but i thought this bluray was going to have it as a deleted scene. Does it show up anywhere in any of the documentary (besides All This Bleeding which I've just watched hoping it would be in that section of the doc.)?

No, the scene can only be found in the trailer. Blatty spoke of not liking it, and I can understand his opinion on that, but that is all you get in the supplements.
