Noramlly I think she's a puke - I couldn't stand her on Law & Order, and she's sickening in the movie Parenthood, to name a couple. And yet, I love her in this! She was absolutely lovely & sweet in this movie!

Um no she didn't deserve anything for her ok-ish performance but johnny depp did, he deserved to win for this movie.

completely agree, it is not an easy job to convey a performance this emotive and have very little dialogue to do it with. He nailed a very difficult performance and wasn't even nominated, the academy have no idea what constitutes good movie making.
