All these years later, the performances of Diane Weist and Alan Arkin are just brilliant, I don't think I appreciated how good they were back in 1990.
Such a wonderful and timeless classic, they don't make films like this anymore.

Its too bad you can't appreciate those actors and their work on this film. I'm not comparing them to Depp, I'm just saying their performances helped make the film.
Diane Weist plays a wonderful, and crucial character. Arkin's deadpan humor is spot on. One of the funniest lines of the film is after Arkin's character gives Edward some whiskey to calm him down, which almost kills him, then says "good isn't it". These are certainly memorable for me.
