Edward/Leatherface: Cinema Clipper

The main character in this film, Edward (portrayed wonderfully by the eclectic Johnny Depp) is basically the diametric opposite of Leatherface, the maniacal cannibalistic chainsaw-wielding serial killer from Tobe Hooper's eerie "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974).

Edward is under-stated and haunting, while Leatherface is horrifying and gruesome. Edward is creepy and sweet, while Leatherface is ghoulish and sweaty.

Characterization is a big part of cinema, and this Tim Burton classic creates the sort of atmosphere conducive to 'hospital popcorn.'

That is a far leap in generalization and Iā€™m sure if one were to dig hard enough, one could find many more characters with similarities to Edward Scissorhands.
