For me, is when Edward shuts his eyes, after Kim confesses her love for him. *beep*, it's soooo emotional, hits home every time! Thoughts?

yes, she loves him so much that she lets hin be blamed for something he didn't do and be turned into an outcast, and never soeaks up for him. not a very deep love in my opinion.
shareYou're way off base. Kim's mom tells the neighbors that Kevin was okay and it was "just a scratch" after Edward cut up Kevin's face while saving him from being hit by the van. The neighbors completely ignore her. Neighbors hear the cop fire shots and the redhead I believe, asks, "Well is he dead?" When the officer tells them to go home, it's over, the neighbors wait until the cop is out of the way and go up to the house to see for themselves.
1) When Kim's mom tries to tell them that Edward didn't hurt Kevin, the neighbors can't be bothered with the truth. At this point they have vilified Edward so much, they just want to see his downfall.
2) They would have never let Kim and Edward be together happily. If Edward hadn't killed Jim, Jim would have never left them alone. However, Edward does kill Jim, and rich father or not, Edward would have had to pay for the crime, and probably would have been put to death anyway.
3) Kim probably knew it was best for Edward to live where he had spent the majority of his life. She knew nothing would have changed the opinions of the neighbors - their mob mentality couldn't be stopped or reasoned with.
