Misery, Home Alone, Edward Scissorhands, Die Hard 2, Back to the Future 3 and Arachnophobia were better than this movie.
How this movie won an Oscar for best picture of THE YEAR lol? This was solid (7/10), at best. Should've been shorter 2 hours.
Those movies were fun but not great like this movie.
shareI once tried watching Dances with Wolves but turned it off because the first several minutes just consist of Kevin Costner's character walking around while narrating and that takes up several minutes of the film. I don't need violence for me to enjoy a movie (I like Driving Miss Daisy) but I need something interesting to happen in a movie and it takes way too long for anything interesting to happen. And yet the academy felt this deserved best adapted screenplay and best picture over the way more interesting Goodfellas.
Maybe I should watch Dances with Wolves again but just fast forward to when the Native Americans show up.
I love the idea of fat 90's nerds running things, and making Home Alone, Edward Scissorhands, Die Hard 2, Arachnophobia, and Back to the Future 3 the five BP nominees for that year.

shareIt's reasonable to say that Goodfellas should have won, but this is also a really solid movie. This wasn't a bad choice by the Academy, I'd say.
shareGoodfellas was a good movie, but Dances With Wolves was so much grander in scope and nobler and more "American" in subject matter. I have no complaints whatsoever about its win.
