suggestions for diffrerent director?
Besides De Palma making this picture, how would the overall film be if Blake Edwards directed it? Or John Landis? Or Martin Scorsese?

sharewell they would've made an entirely different film, what an absurd question.
sharewhy change the director. De Palma did a good job.
shareIn the book, The Devil's Candy, which chronicles the making of the movie, they tried many, many different directors, including Scorsese and Spielberg. I believe Sydney Pollack was courted as well.

AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE
I was thinking this was something that Mike Nichols would be good at. He seems adept at observing shallowness in people.
shareI would love to see what Robert Altman could have made of BOTV.
Lots of his movies show that he is uniquely skilled at capturing a time and place, with large ensemble casts, intertwining storylines and no obvious "sympathetic" characters - so in theory he's perfect for BOTV. He was also extremely good with his casting, which De Palma totally misjudged.
However, having read The Devil's Candy, who knows how Altman would've dealt with the pressures De Palma was under.
I absolutely agree with you on Altman - this kind of story was perfect for him, and of course he made a movie (The Player) with a very similar story and tone just a couple of years later. I wish he had made this movie.
