First, let me say while I am not a Rob Lowe fan, I found him quite sexy and charasmatic in this film. His best film! I am, however, a James Spader fan. I thought he looked even sexier. HIs portrayal of a yuppie spiraling down into dangerous ground was very belivable. Spader and Lowe's lines worked well off each other in this film.
I am a Rob Lowe fan and I thought he was GREAT in this film. But I love James Spader also so I can't say. Well, actually, James Spader is CUTE and Rob Lowe is SEXY. There, haha, thats what I think. Rob is more hot and smoldering, I guess. And James is just cute and...I can't think of the word...But you get the picture.
I especially liked Rob Lowe in "St Elmo's Fire", with his drunk portrayal of Billy...he exuded sexiness easily there, plus in his "About Last Night" role. But overall I think James has vulnerability and sexiness wrapped up together, with that thing about him that just makes a woman want to reach out to him - I don't think Rob needs that ;)
I agree; loved "St. Elmo's Fire" and "About Last Night," but I think that Rob does have a certain vulnerability to him. Plus, he's just about the sexiest thing I've seen, those eyes!!! So I'd have to vote Rob on this one.
I don't think Spader can come close to Lowe on the sexy or hot chart, but then this is coming from a straight guy, so I'm not even sure I should be replying in this thread - lol.
I'm more attracted to James Spader. Even though he does not have the same physical raw sex appeal that Rob Lowe has, his personality and intellect make him far more appealing to me.
Rob Lowe may be a smoldering hottie on the outside, but he is really just a pretty face. Many times, people who are THAT attractive aren't as good as lovers, because they never had to work for it. Spader? I bet he'd be fantastic. There is so much sexual intensity in the way he speaks (and he certainly isn't hard on the eyes, either).
Well, I think this is kind of a point in the film. And one reason I think Lowe is excellent here b/c there's more to Alex than meets the eye. I believe that Alex is jealous of Michael b/c he knows that Michael's future is established and everything is laid out for him, while Alex is essentially an aimless drifter that must count on his looks and sex appeal to get him anywhere in life. I think he kind of hates that he has to operate like this and thus wants to bring Michael down to his level and make him more like him. Much more complex flick than given credit for.
James Spader is incredibly attractive. Beyond his good looks, he just radiates charisma and sex appeal.
Rob Lowe...I don't know, but I just find him creepy. Physically, he is too pretty, but there is just something about him I really do not like. He was well suited to this role, IMO, for that reason- handsome on the surface, yet sinister underneath.
I would have to say James Spader is hotter. I have always been attracted to him. I agree his personality and intellect are very sexy. I agree he is beyond just looking attractive.
Rob Lowe was good in the film but he is too much of a pretty boy for me.
*James Spader is incredibly attractive. Beyond his good looks, he just radiates charisma and sex appeal* I totally agree!
Rob Lowe on the other hand never appealed to me, sort of a wish-wash guy. Everything about him is so average, I can't find anything appealing about him.
Spader is good in any film. Less Than Zero, Wall Street, White Palace. If you liked Rob Lowe as the bad guy in this movie I would also recommend Masquerade.
