This is the funniest movie ever
My younger brother and I would laugh hysterically at Eric Roberts in this movie. The hair, the personality, the clothes, hahahahaha -it's great. I love the cheesiness. It's so awesome. I want it on DVD!

shareAgreed. I'm from China and I watched this movie many years ago on TV. Since then I've been expecting to see it again but nowhere can I find its DVD, nor has any channel shown it again.
Btw, is there a scene where Josh escaped from a hospital with the help of an old reporter for NY times? It's been so long and I can't really remember if that scene is from this movie
Oh damn, I bought the movie on amazon.com for VHS. Probably watched it last like a year ago. I'm pretty sure that scene is from this movie.
shareThank you very much! It's been about 10 years since I watched it but I still remember that after all he's been through for saving Cheryl, the first word he heard was (translation from Chinese version)"would you tell my boyfriend I'm OK? We quarreled last week and since then we haven't talked. He must have been worried." Lol I'd shoot myself if this happens to me.

Haha, wow I can't believe you lectured me about this. I'm 25 and I do get it. Just because of the reality behind it (and yes, I'm aware of the reality) and the era it was created, doesn't mean us young people won't find it funny. So be it. Who really cares? The reality behind it sucks -of course, and in analyzing the film, yes, it's easy to drawn real life scenarios from it. Honestly though, if you were serious with that last response, you need to chill out.
I wore hilarious clothing in the 80's and 90's. I laugh hysterically when I look back.
People can find humor in anything. I know I can. Call it dark or whatever -to dismiss us all as "ignorant" as if all we see in it is humor, is just so ignorant.
"Unusual ignorant youth"...haha that statement says so much about your personality -what an ignorant thing to write.
Togas are funny too.

Ahh, you assumed I was a young kind that didn't know any better! In all seriousness, I'm really not offended -but thanks. My original message wasn't chastising the film (although I can see how you would think that) -anything can have a deeper, broader meaning -symbolic or what not. That is of course, if one is willing to look that deep into it.
Most of all my favorite films were either made in the 70's or 80's by the way.
I agree with you when you say most kids are raised by their television sets. It's interesting to see what television and the media does to people. Sad at the same time. Brainwashing. Fear and Consumption.
Believe it or not haha, I took my television out of my living room and replaced the space with 2 book shelves. I love to read. TV is hypnotic, I can't stand it.
Seems like we have 2 things in common -we both like the ambulance, and we both are into books.
Nice chatting with ya!
Well that changes the situation a great deal, I see what you mean:)
Most of my favorite films are from the 80s so I get a little defensive when I see people mock films from that time. Technically this film is from 1990 but it was filmed in 1989 and it does have the trademark 80s style. Granted there are many silly fashions from that era, don't get me wrong, but I just get annoyed when young people don't get the cultural norms of that period and judge it accordingly.
I hear what you're saying regarding TV, it probably would be best to do the same thing you have, but I guess I'm just too big of a fan of films and TV to get rid of it. I still make time for books though, it's just important to maintain a balance between the two mediums, moderation is always key.
Nice chatting with you as well:)

hey you two - get a room :o)
(only kidding!)
Fun movie too and I agree - books are a more valuable intellectual pasttime than TV or movies.
its laughs are in the you shouldn't be laughing kind of way. which makes much more fun to watch.

"Rue the day?" Who talks like that?
Ok, so it is a thriller/horror flick? Must be 15 years since I watched it, and I remember it as a thriller with Roberts constantly on the run but, it is listed as a action/comedy/horror/romance/thriller. lol?

Avatar. Most expensive kiddie cartoon ever.
Depends on the book; depends on the movie.

"Look! - it's the Invisible Man!"
Don't mean to bump this thread, but having watched Maniac Cop last night and its special features (which mentioned this film) I saw your comments and agree with you completely; some douche-nozzles take things way too seriously and yet defend their point-of-view that somehow tries to vindicate themselves from causing offence!
shareIt is a pretty funny action/comedy. I blame my local channel that aired this movie though for labeling it as an action/thriller, so I went in expecting a rather serious movie. So it was quite the bizarre movie experience, but all in all pretty amusing.
shareid say its a 80s/90s film as was filmed in 89+came out in 90
shareOne of my all time favourite movies.
Agree it is hysterical, but also a great thriller. The script is beautifully written and full of brilliant humor. There is a certain allowable amount of cheese that has grown with the vintage, just enough to add flavour. And both women and Red Buttons were outstanding (for different reasons) 5.6??? Its an 8.00 for me. The coppers were brilliant too.
There is a good copy on line you can stream - just do a search.
This was a lot of fun.
Some great lines and chemistry between Roberts and Red.
The hair. The clothes.
Stan Lee. 'Nuff Said.
