new to show

i started watching it just a month ago after hearing the acclaim the show posses, but i didn't like a single thing in the show yet and iam onto 2nd season, i don't enjoy the stand up routines at the beginning and so on...
and let me tell you I don't like friends either
I wanna ask should i watch more of it and give it a chance or simply it isn't my cup of tea?

reply

If you watch through season three and still don't enjoy it then give it up. If you are on the fence after season three, watch season four, which some say is the best season of all. I personally think four and five are collectively the absolute cream of the crop. If you are not from the USA it might be a complete waste of time.

haha the thing about "not being from usa" is really weird i know u meant no offence but its like saying u live on earth but have idea about thee moon. I mentioned not liking this show or friends cause I am more of a The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Bloodlines guy.

reply

There is little blood and guts in Seinfeld. It just may not be for you.

One of the complaints about the show, at least at first, was that it was considered "too NY specific," meaning that it wouldn't resonate with you unless you were from NY.

But that being said, I really didn't think the first couple of seasons were very good anyhow. Wait till you get to the classics like "The Opposite" and "Soup Nazi" in the later seasons; you'll start to love it.

then i'll give it a go

reply

Yeah, trust me, you'll love it. I thought the first couple of seasons were more of them experimenting with a new idea for a show but not knowing where to take it, but they really got into their groove in the subsequent seasons.

sure i'll stick around

reply

Isn`t The chinese restoraunt considered to be the very first "clasic episode". It`s from season 2.

reply

To be honest, I'm not really a huge fan of that episode. It's a clever idea I guess, but it has no replay value for me.

reply

Every Seinfeld episode has rewatch value to me haha. I always watch it slowly. I am on season 8 currently and I started season 1 two years ago.

reply

It's very popular in Japan. Just sit down with a bag of oranges and enjoy the show.

reply

Again with the oranges.

They were pretty rough, but they had something.
What was it?
I think it was the trousers.

reply

I love the show and I am not from the US.

Season 1 and Season 2 is not really funny, but I didn't mind it I didn't feel like turning off my TV or switching to watch something else But Season 3 onwards is when the episodes get funnier.

Also depends on what humor you are looking for. Seinfeld is more the sarcastic kind of humor. Not everyone probably enjoys it.

reply

I don`t find stand up comedy to be funny at all. Even Geroge Carlin is just a social comentator and not funny to me. But I like it in Seinfeld because I know Jerry is talking about something from the episode.

reply

agree doesn't make me laugh at all

reply

Not a giggle? Not a chuckle? Not a tee-hee? Never went "ha"?

I know Jerry gets a lot of flak for the opening standup bits on the show, but to be honest they're really not THAT bad. I'd rather have a little 30-second opening credits like that than some stupid 2-minute song such as "Friends" or "Everyone Loves Raymond." To me, the only good TV themes songs are "The Sopranos," "The Simpsons," and "Saved by the Bell"!

Just skip to seasons 5 and 6. I mean, we're talking about seasons 5 and 6 here, if you can laugh at seasons 5 and 6, seasons 7, 8 and 9 are a cake walk.

"Get out here, son! There's a doin's a transpirin'!!"

reply

Season 3 has Larry Charles' fingerprints all over it, it's a very different season from the others.

I think seasons 4+ are more of what people remember when they think of Seinfeld.

Game of Thrones - Best Show on TV

reply

hahaha maybe I'll do that

reply

You get up, you go to work, you come home, you eat, you read. That's the show.

reply

You read?

reply

I have just finished binge watching it: -
Season 1 and 2 - not very funny
Season 3 and 4 - fairly funny
Season 5 - starts hitting it’s stride
Season 6, 7, 8 - just gets funnier
Season 9 - funny

reply

skip it!

It doesn't hold up well with the fake laugh track and the over top Kramer (Adult Urkel) doing all sorts of wacky things.

Always surprised that NY Media has kept this show alive.

Murder She Wrote is more popular than this stupid shit.

reply

The show (like so many others) found it's classic-golden years a couple of seasons in... it keeps getting better until when Larry David finally left... the last 2 seasons were not that good.

The first couple of seasons were good... but they were still finding 'their voice'.
