Anyone else watch this?

This is a cute show with quirky characters. Why no one praise this like other old shows (Seinfeld, Friends)?

reply

GREAT SHOW...QUIRKY,OFFBEAT,UNUSUAL...IT WAS A MAJOR HIT WITH ITS AUDIENCE.ITS AUDIENCE WASNT AS WIDE OR DEEP AS A SEINFELD OR FRIENDS,THUS THE LACK OF LATTER DAY FANFARE.

reply

I think it would be appreciated more if it came out now. 1990s popular tv tastes were very pedestrian.

reply

Good question. Everyone I know watched it in the 90s (at first thinking it was a Twin Peaks ripoff). I especially liked Janine Turner when her hair was long. Of course, it's all an illusion, she's nothing like her character on the show. Too bad.

reply

Aren’t all fictional tv shows supposed to be illusions? So Janine was not really a pilot? Rob Morrow is a doctor though, right? Ok, snarky time over. That is why I hate watching celebrities go on shows like Fallon and Kimmel because most come off as really unremarkable to downright moronic. It can dampen appreciation for the interesting and colorful characters they play.

I always thought it had a strong following and it also a critically acclaimed show up until Dr Fleischer exited the series. Also, I don't think Seinfeld and Friends are even in the same league as N.E. by any stretch.

For all its comparisons to Twin Peaks, which I can see some parallels, I always felt like this was a modern send up of M*A*S*H.

reply

I don’t see the Twin Peaks parallels at all. But I forgot mostly everything about Twin Peaks and never was interested in the follow up series. M*A*S*H parallels I can see though.

reply

It was the quirkiness of the Northwest setting and its characters for the most part but the story and character similarities were not even close. There was that one funny episode where Dr Fleisher spots a "log lady" and hears the ubiquitous "man from another place" jazz music playing in the background though LOL

reply

It's hard to get in the U.S. because of the ridiculous music industry.

reply

I can't understand why it's not available for streaming anywhere.

reply

It is, but it's not free. It's cheaper to just buy the complete series for $25.
