I have to say, I felt soo bad for Joel at the end of the episode when Maggie begged him not to tell anyone that they slept together (even though they didn't) because she would be so embarrassed. You could almost hear his heart crushing. Poor guy. Her insensitivity was never addressed.

He should have been upfront about it as soon as he saw her the next morning. But then, she most likely would have still made an issue with that, regardless.

As soon as he realized Maggie would be flying him there, he should have kept his options open. It slipped away because he let it.
