Why didn't they re-release this version in the US?

GREED.

They sucked his brains out!

Assuming you purchased it, I have a rather obscure question that you might be able to answer. I only watched the show occasionally, so I'm not really familiar with individual episodes, but I remember once being amazed to hear one of my favorite musicians, Leon Redbone, on the bar's jukebox in the background.

Do the discs have any feature that might reveal which episode that was?

To db: in case you don't get an answer the Moosechick's Notes website has some detailed information on the original music tracks but they're broken down by episode, not by artist.

Thanks for the info. I'll check that out.

Thank you for posting information about this box set. I have just received mine. It is a beautifully made box set, constructed of wood with many inserts such as posters, a booklet, postcards and even beer mats from The Brick. The box is approx 12" x 12" x 2.5"

But the main reason for buying this has been to get the unedited episodes with original soundtrack. I had previously dubbed original soundtrack from my VHS copies onto the DVD versions which only have the substitute soundtrack. It was taking me a long time.

I have only just started binge watching again but so far the soundtrack is indeed intact and the picture quality is superb.

Only 3,000 copies of this set were made.

All of the text on the box is in German. The languages on this disc are both English and German. You can switch off subtitles if watching in English.

The only evidence of German on playback is that Northern Exposure becomes Ausgerechnet Alaska on the main title and the episode name is in German. Otherwise it is all in English.

What a fantastic series. It's like seeing old friends again I haven't seen for years.
