Season 4, Episode 11: "Golden Years"

I just rewatched this episode earlier today. I've always liked the beginning of the episode, with an elderly lady finding her fellow elderly friend dead. She's pretty much still in a state of shock when Briscoe and Logan are interviewing her. I think it's one of the more memorable episode openings.

I just discovered this morning that the actress who played the elderly woman who finds her friend dead was Jan Miner. That name probably doesn't ring a bell for most people...but she was most famous for playing Madge in the Palmolive commercials. Those commercials ran all the time on American TV (usually during soap operas) when I was younger. I never recognized her during her "L & O" appearance. She did a fantastic job, IMO, and was a terrific actress.

Jan Miner passed away back in 2004. Discovering that she was the same actress who played Madge has brought back a lot of nostalgic feelings for me today. It's part of the reason why I still love watching the old "L & O" episodes today.
