Jack Coleman to play the flash, but he declined to pursue a Broadway career.
Coleman plays Noah Bennet on Heroes.

Coleman would have been a great choice. It's a shame that he was never cast as a superhero. He has the look.

Oh, you English are so superior, aren't you?

reply

Was he the actor who was on Dynasty? If so, then no, I'm VERY glad he wasn't chosen for the role! He turned the character of Steven Carrington, originally so dynamic when played by Al Corley, into one of the blandest characters on the show. Besides, while it's always fun to play "what if," John Wesley Shipp was perfect in the role of the Flash!

On a happy note for Jack Coleman he did marry well.

Art makes the disturbed comfortable and the comfortable disturbed.

I thought Jack Coleman was a lot more handsome and convincing as a rich heir than Al Corley, so I have to disagree with you there.

reply

That's interesting, I always felt like the character became so bland after Coleman replaced Corley... Al Corley brought a real anger and intensity to the role, and he was kind of the Greek chorus of the audience, plus he was the moral compass of the show despite being a gay man (something practically unheard of in 1982, and that ended when Coleman took over and started being straight.

"Dynasty" always struck me as one of those silly, aspirational TV shows that was best as a shallow piece of fluff featuring the glamorous, gilded lives of the ultra-wealthy. As far as I'm concerned, it didn't have any need for pathos. There's no place for anger and intensity in such silly shows.
