Brandon is a liar!

Youngin that's new to this show. Been watching it on plutotv while I fall asleep at night.

So far in every single episode of season 1 Brandon always lies about something.

The episode where his girlfriend visits, he keeps lying to his parents and everyone around him.

The next he lies about cheating in his class and never fesses up about it to the teacher, even though he feels extremely guilty.

Another he lies about drinking.

Is this supposed to be his character flaw? Brandon is supposed to be the more mature, responsible one, yet it seems like Brenda is. Not that she didn't make a lot of mistakes either. Is this supposed to be the point? I just want to know if his character stays like this throughout the rest of the show?

reply

yeah Brandon is the goody-goody who never gets caught. Brenda is the unfortunate one who always gets caught. I'm sure they did it to teach young girls (the majority of viewing audience) a lesson.

Just watched another episode today and he even says, "I'm not perfect, but at least I'm honest." Oh really? You literally just lied to your parents.

Don't get me wrong, I still like him as a character.

reply

I think that's why I didn't like him as a character. Dylan had flaws and knew it. He knew when he lied and got caught. I didn't really have the hots for him but even Steve knew he would get caught.

His moral high ground can get pretty exhausting

There's a hilarious book about 90210 that refers to this as "Braying."

That's hilarious, thank you.

It's amazing to me that you even found anything like that.

Your exclamation point at the end made me chuckle. I love it.

I've been rage posting on this board, I need to stop and go back to my homework.

Season 5 and Brandon is still lying and cheating, season 5 Brandon suuuucks.

Nobody's perfect.

reply

True. It just seemed like Brandon was a guy with a sensible head on his shoulders in the earlier seasons, then his character development went backwards.
