I will never understand how anyone liked this show.
I really never understood the appeal.
shareYou're too young.
shareShit acting and cringey writing.
shareIncredibly entertaining and trendsetting at the time.
shareThe show is too superficial. High school Brandon gets into a wreck while drunk, a major offense.
Ok, now this is getting interesting, how is Brandon going to cope with this setback? Here's what happens it shows him with a bike, that's all. By the next episode, it's like it never happened, Brandon has another car and is picking up his date at night. This lazy formula is repeated throughtout the series.
That's only the case in the first season.
shareActually, the acting can be pretty good sometimes.
The writing on the other hand... yeah, you may have a point there.
I'm a young person that started watching this show, and I see why people liked/like it. Literally lasted the whole decade, so it was decade defining.
shareI was in my thirties when it was first being shown, and I never got the appeal. You might say I'm too old now, but was thirties too old, or was it a kids' show.
shareGood looking teenagers doing teenage stuff, I don’t think it’s hard to understand why teenage people enjoyed that.
shareI loooooved it!
shareI always like the theme song!
Actually, a great deal of shows' theme songs were pretty good. I was a kid in the 90s, and even those soap operas of the time had great theme songs.
It's okay. At least it's memorable.
shareIt was indeed a $h!tty show, but if you watched it as if it were a bad comedy, it wasn't so bad. It was actually quite funny. Pretty people with problems. For example, Kelly was burned in a fire, shot, then she shot someone else, she was a drug addict, she was in a cult, she was a childhood model, she was in a love triangle with the two most popular guys in school, and she was a slut. Now, take into account that that is a VERY condensed summary of her problems, AND that that is only one character in a show that lasted ten years! I'm telling you, it's a goldmine of laughs if you approach watching it from the proper perspective.
sharePrime time soap opera, more of a chick flick type of tv show.
