Gabrielle Carteris is only 6 years younger then James Eckhouse who played Brendan's father. We were supposed to believe someone the parents age was a high school student. She should have been casts at Brendan's aunt instead.

She was way too old to be playing the role, but at least pulled it off in the first season. After that, you could tell she was a woman in her 30s playing a 19 year old. It wasn't convincing anymore

shareGabrielle apparently, didn’t disclose her age until later on in the series. Robyn Lively was also up for the role of Andrea and would have been more age appropriate - but didn’t want to do be too closely associated with boyfriend, at the time, Jason Priestley.
