I get that she is a good actress but she does not like anything close to being a teenager!! If they really wanted her in the show, they should have casted her as a teacher or one of the parents; that would have been more believable...

Retrospectively they should have brought on Emma Caufield/somebody looking like that much earlier. Susan Keats is also a journalist, but she oozes 'soapish' sex appeal.
Gabrielle tries, but she honestly looks like somebody's mother. Her character yes volunteers @ a teen crisis line but this and switching schools/school districts doesn't actually wear you down from stress you that much.
The same could be said for a lot of the cast. Dylan looks too old for his role as well.
shareThe pilot was meh (too sugary) and they remembered guy who had tried out for "Steve" who might give the show edge.
He was supposed to look 'older' for this specific role he had been around the world and was already drinking (presumably illegally!), living by himself doing who knows what in a hotel as an emancipated minor. He did fit the role.
Really. When I first saw the show I thought she looked too young to be part of the cast. Imagine the shock when I found out she was so much older?
