Question about Dylans money

Okay so it's been established that he was ripped off all his millions by Kevin and Suzanne. He wasted any extra on liquor during the hiatus between seasons 5 and 6. So when Steve, knowing nothing of his current financial status, asks him to bank Peach Pit After Dark Dylan has to mortgage his house just to foot the expense. Am I right on that much?

Now suddenly Dylan has extra cash to buy not one but TWO plane tickets to Punta Brava plus hand out wads of dough as tips to the staff? I'm no expert on plane expenses in the mid 90s but something tells me it wasn't free. Where did this extra cash come from? Is he still involved financially in the After Dark? Because I thought Rush was the money backer now. Did he buy Dylan out?

reply

I think it's called plastic (credit cards) and tv world

reply

But if he didn't have money how did he pay for credit cards to he couldn't keep using them? They cut you off if you don't pay at least the minimum every month.

The Dylan-is-broke storyline wasn't as interesting as it could've been. Really, how much had his life changed? Every day he was eating takeout, drinking booze, and doing drugs. I imagine many people would kill for that. I suppose had things continued he would've been legitimately broke, but before retrieving his millions he wasn't exactly living like a pauper.

reply

You know what storyline I "liked"? Brandon had a p/t job all thru high school to pay for car insurance and have extra spending money. Then suddenly in college he no longer has a need for the job even though he still has a car that needs insurance and still has extra money for spending. Jimbo and Cindy are okay footing his bill now that he's an adult but not when he was a minor trying to pass high school?

reply

I asked this question to the board before. How does Brandon all of a sudden not have to work to pay for things? Where does his pocket money come from? Are Jim and Cindy dishing out money now that Brenda's gone? Does he get an allowance?

reply

Surely they're still sending Brenda money. Plus they've got Valerie now who is clearly mooching off them so it can't be because the have extra money. If anything they'd have less by this point. Unless Jimbo got a raise that was omitted by the writers.

reply

Exactly like he already had a part time paying job, most college kids I know hold on to a part time job until they found their career of choice. All the gang acted like they were 30 something years old except Steve he really did act like a college student.

I remember early in season five, Dylan cashed in a savings bond. I don't know how much it was, but I assumed it was enough to keep him afloat.

Yeah I remember that too. He also had T-Bills that he cashed in. Suffered a penalty, but he needed money.

Heaven forbid he get a job or something like that. He even pawned items before when he was in High School & strapped for cash then.

No, he chose to just go on a several months long bender in Mexico w/ a bunch of hookers.
