and that is why I refer to him as EL HORNY BURRITO!

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

Jesse was a waste of a character. So boring. It would have been more interesting to have Dan Ruben be the baby's father.

reply

Yeah and his terrible lisp! Judge Jimeneth!

Both Jesse and Aaauuuhnnndrea were annoying in this episode. So, in this episode, according to Aaaauhnndrea, a social worker poking her nose into the single father's business was "covering her butt". However, a few years ago when Aaauhhndrea was Queen of the Valley Youth Center, she had no problem sticking her own nose into that kid Felix's life. And, he ended up being removed from his home. I guess as long as Aaauuuhhndrea thinks it's a good cause, then it's Ok. She's such a hypocrite.

reply

ITA. She always had a my way or no way attitude. The best thing Jesse did was to to tell Andrea that she wasn't tolerant of others.

speaking of Jesse Vasquez, I read an interview on some teen drama website with Larry Mullin, who was one of the head writers on the staff during seasons 3-8 if I remember correctly...

...and Larry Mullin said in the interview that during season 4, when they were writing Gabrielles real-life pregnancy into the show, Aaron Spelling told him he didnt want Andreas first sexual experience to get her pregnant, so he told Larry to write in a new character... and since Aaron wanted more racial diversity, he told Larry to write the character as a Hispanic of grad school/law school aged, who was just a few years older than the rest of the gang, but still could pass for close to their age...
...so Larry wrote the character of Jesse Vasquez as per Aaron Spellings request and he recommended that Aaron cast Esai Morales, who was a friend of Larry's he'd worked with before. Larry thought Esai Morales would b perfect and wrote Jesse with Morales in mind... but aapparently, Spellings meeting with Morales didn't go as planned and he cast Mark Damon Espinoza insted... and Larry was appalled by that. Not because he disliked Espinoza, but because he thought he was wrong for the character in every way... because he was already noticeably balding and in his mid to late 30s at the time... and compared to the rest of the cast, Larry didn't think he could convincingly pass for even close to their age... he said Esai Morales, who was in his late 20's at the time and had a full head of thick hair, would have blended in much better with the cast and look closer to their age than Mark... in case anyone doesn't know who Esai Morales is, he played Lieutenant Tony Rodriguez in seasons 8-11 of NYPD Blue...
...I had no idea he was originally considered to play Jesse and since I found out, I've often pondered an alternate reality where Esai Morales played Jesse Vasquez... it may have been a better fit
