..um...
Lies and videotaping.
:)
I would say it is a film about female emancipation.
Hang on. I'll find the link to my amazon.co.uk review.

Don't dream it, be it.
Somehow it seems to me that the scope of the emancipation is beyond gender, being rather the emancipation of the indivuality. Emancipation from the constrictions of an unhealthy community (social) experience, discovered in the atmosphere of a healthy one.

This movie is at first glance about four people who have different problems.
One is self-involved to everyone's disbenefit. The second is not satisfied with her marriage and is somewhat alarmed by that. The third is mourning an old love and has chosen a bizarre way of dealing with that. The fourth is a sexual athlete with no sense of loyalty.
Watching their interactions is really what this movie is about. The acting is so good that they make their individual characterizations interesting. It is quite possible to believe that one is watching the events while they are actually happening while watching this movie.
That's a boring analysis for a not boring movie, but that's the way I see it.
In my opinion that's the best analysis yet of this movie.
