couldn't express himself aural and that scared people...?

Hi! I saw this film some years ago and I still don't understand something...
The guy who was videotaping said if I remember well, that he was videotaping because he couldn't express himself aural and that scared people.Or something like that...
What was the meaning of that phrase?

I think he meant that he couldn't express himself in words, and whatever he did scared people. Maybe he just got really really angry, or perhaps he actually became violent and hit out.

He didn't say he couldn't express himself verbally. He said that he used to express himself non-verbally. That leaves open the question of whether or not he also expressed his feelings in words.

I think that he might have hit things. I think that if he had actually hit people, he would have said as much. Graham's compulsive honesty leads him to tell the truth where others might have just refused to answer. I don't think he would have hidden a violent past.
